Limited Edition of 10 (Any size) 7 left
The Black & Worn collection includes works in black and white showing the wear of certain elements in their environment. These works are all long exposures, giving way to the movement of nature which contributes to their wear. In an era where consumption takes precedence and where we replace rather than repair, this collection shows the beauty of worn, eroded elements which have faced the elements for tens, hundreds, or thousands of years, and which nevertheless radiate of a certain beauty. Although this collection highlights landscapes, the message it sends is just as human. How many people have been worn out by life, but hold on and never give up. The landscapes of Black & Worn pay homage to them.
About this photography
Emblem of the Gaspé, the Rocher Percé is the centerpiece of the Black & Worn collection. This giant has been at war on the Gulf of St. Lawrence for thousands of years and yet still holds out. When Jacques Cartier saw it for the first time, it had 3 arches. There is only one left, which could disappear within 400 years, but this giant boulder still has much to be proud of. The day before my visit to the site, I spent an hour looking at photos of this rock, not for inspiration, but rather to do something completely different! Thousands of photos are already circulating, and I wanted to get out of all clichés. I wanted to see the movement of the water and the force of the erosion in the foreground, but I also wanted to emphasize the impressive size of the rock from a low angle. So I chose this place at the start of low tide with a 75mm lens. To achieve the desired result, I took 3 photos at different settings, and then stitched them together. The focus is perfect both on the rocks in the foreground and on the Rocher Percé in the distance. 1 hour of preparation. 1 hour in the field. 3 Hours of post-editing. Yes! 5 Hours for a single photo! But I'll be proud of it all my life!
